Anyone have a boyd pro varmint with the cdi bottom metal installed? Thinking about going this route but want to see how the inletting looks. Hate it when the bottom metal is sunk really far into the stick.

The inletting is super tight. It's not so tight that it's a struggle to get in or out, but if the alignment is a few degrees off, it will stick. It's precise work! The metal is slightly below the surface of the wood, but I'd guess it's less than a millimeter. It's just enough that I felt compelled to paint the inside of the inletting because there was a very thin line of wood visible from the outside.

Any chance you could toss up a pic or send one to ericmurray@mchsi.com or text 319-241-9459

I have PTG bottom metal so it may be different but I had to shave around a ¼" off the bottom of my pro varmint to make the stock and metal be flush

Sorry, I totally forgot you asked for pictures. It also turns out that it is set deeper into the stock at the rear action screw than I remembered. Maybe 4mm.
