hi guys, about to turn a right handed 223 rem axis into a 243 win, is this the correct bolt head; https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/1401000A.htm

(looks pretty rough but if it's withing spec then i'm happy, i can polish it myself)

or am i better off with a aftermarket one like the PTG?

Yep. That should be it.

Was asking this since i read somewhere that 3 number models, like 110 instead of 10 are long action models, and from what i understand i need a short action bolt head for my axis. (?)
To further complicate things, in the description of Numrich they list the 30-06 in that same link, but. .243 is short action, 3006 long, so this is why i'm a little confused here :)

That bolt head is most likely a long action since it is listed as 110. At one time Savage built 223 & 308 on long action. Gun Shack might be the better choice.

Axis bolt heads are short action bolt heads. The front baffle does not have the guide fin, but if you look closer you will find a long side and a short side. The short side to the right for long cartridges, opposite for short.

My mistake, sorry. I somehow misread a three digit number.
