Hey, if it's on the internet, it has to be true..........bonjour!

My hat is off to you Bowhunter, you are shooting groups at 400 like my bench gun does for 5 at 100.
I guess I will stop building target guns and just buy Savage Axis heavy barrels for a lot less money, $400 vs. $3500, I could of had nine for the price of one.

The first group was shot at 100 yards. Due to my sloppy writing, the "g" in Savage dips down and makes the "1" in 100 look like something else. The second group, on the shoot-n-c was shot at 300 yards not 400. If you asked for pics just so you could throw the BS flag, then I am glad to oblige. If you are looking for more justification for the deployment of your Bull$#!+ flag........those groups were shot with the standard sporter weight barrel, not the heavy barrel version. LOL. However, if you are truly interested in how such an inexpensive rifle could produce such groups.....then I would be glad to elaborate.

Hey, if it's on the internet, it has to be true..........bonjour!

rjtfroggy asked for pics of some of the groups that that my rifle has produced. Thankfully..........mine, and my rifles performance, doesn't depend on internet forum posters willingness to believe it.

I can believe that those are the 2 best groups you've shot with that gun. But, now if you tell me it will do it all day long.....the flag's coming up.

Well then............You might as well start hoisting that flag now. This rifle will do this all day long, and that is because it takes all day long to shoot groups like this. I should explain.......LOL! Obviously the pics are of some of the best groups this rifle has ever produced. After all, this post is about how accurate these inexpensive rifles can be. Showing pics of the mediocre groups that it has also produced would help illustrate the overall picture, but would do little in the way of showing the true potential.
The groups shown, took nearly an hour to shoot....each, and were shot under conditions as perfect as nature can provide. The majority of my rifles are hunting guns. That being said.....I am first and foremost concerned about where that first "cold bore" shot goes. All shots in the groups were fired from a "cold bore" to accurately represent where that first "hunting" shot will land. Most of my rifles will do this and if they don't......they don't stick around long.
I expect "bench gun" accuracy out of all of my rifles, even though they are mostly used for hunting and recreational shooting. They will shoot groups like this fairly consistently, under the right conditions. However, my expectations are realistic. I do expect them to be able to do what I have shown and explained. It would be ridiculous of me to expect them to shoot 3-5 shot groups, in fairly rapid succession, like is done in most bench rest matches. Just not going to happen with most production rifles and especially in a sporter weight barrel....there are just to many factors working against you in this configuration. Some of these include overall build and design quality of the rifle, manufacturing process of the barrel, and overall quality of the raw barrel blank. Some cheaper sporter weight barrels are capable of the kind of accuracy and consistency that mine have shown. However, many barrels are not capable of this and even more shooters are not. Many of those same barrels are not capable of shooting tiny consecutive groups due to POI shifts that occur as a barrel with internal stress heats up, but as a "cold bore" hunting gun, they really shine.

These are for Bowhunter and anyone else interested. All shot at 100 yards, the 20 shot group was shot in pouring rain with 12mph NNW wind with the magneto-speed on the barrel. roughly 1/2 hr time frame. The other three all shot by IBS rules of 10 minute time frame.
This is what a $3500.00 Savage build will do specs are listed in previous post.
I am sure SharpShooter can relate to these and by the way all of these would be loosers in a group match.

A little side note I realize this isn't a Axis nor is it a factory gun but hey it is what it is. I posted so everyone could see why I asked for pictures.
In the 7 shot group I should have quit at five, pulled one right then one left opened up the group.
The ten shot was just to finish what I had loaded and the twenty was to get MV and finish fire forming the Lapua brass.
Now I am waiting for my new Weaver 46x to come back from repair shop so I can get ready for next match, or my action to come from SSS so I can put back together for the 200 yard match in early Sept.. Either way I will be shooting the match.
