Stock Upgrades for model 10T

I have a Savage Model 10T, 6.5 creedmoor, 24" bull barrel, detachable box mag. I am interested in upgrading the stock. I would like something with a more vertical grip angle/pistol grip. Adjustable stock (cheek riser, LOP). I have done a little shopping around online and found that most stock that fit this criteria cost at least as much, in most cases 2x as much as What I paid for the complete rifle, about $600. Can anyone suggest an aftermarket stock that wont break the bank?

I put a Cadex on mine. But before you swap out, make sure it shoots good. I found out the hard way and had to send it in to savage, which was a waste of time. XLR is another to look at. You can see my setup in the stock section.

Less expensive is this one. On the other hand for some looks I am willing to give up some tack driverage, as I can't tack driver anyway I might as well.

I do like the Thumb Hole, got it on a donor gun as a trial and I think its a keeper. This one is both on sale, free shipping and it has pillar screws. Not as good as a full metal insert synthetic I don't think but I also think I am not ever going to be good enough for anyone to tell.

A bit tough choice as you don't know if the cheek riser is right or not. Mine is a bit short on the Savage BTH stock, but workable enough and I can lower if I get a non rail mount.

Agreed on sending the Savage back, I think if it shoots 1 MOA for 3 shots they think its fine. I think they should deliver sub 5/8 with 5, but I don't run the company, gun was low cost enough that if I change the barrel to the Bull I have on the 111 as a test right now I am still fine.

I can sell it for what it is (Sub 7/8 MOA) and someone gets a good enough barrel for some shooting at a decent price.

My take is regardless its a very good deal as a basis for a project, maybe good enough for now, shoot out the barrel and you can get a really good one and a pretty straight forward job with a lot of support on how to do it.

How about MDT Chassis?

Also when I am looking at Savage stock upgrades there are a bunch of different variations of the 10/110 action and therefore not all configurations work with all stocks. Mine has the blind mag, bottom bolt release, two takedown screws on either sides of the magazine. See photos below. How is this version of the model 10 action classified/abbreviated by stock manufactures?

I like the Offerings for XLR - Element and MTB- LSS XL and the TAC 21 (although that's gonna be a stretch budget wise). I wish there was an active secondary market for these but with all the different model 10 action configurations it's very unlikely I could find a used one that fit my rifle. It's unlikely I will be able to make this purchase until sometime in the fall (unless those scratchers finally pay out). Is it worth getting a $200 Choate tactical in the meantime? A pro to trying out the Choate is if I like it and it fits my needs, I will end up saving myself $500 by not upgrading to a chassis at all. But if not, wound that move on the secondary market? I don't want to be stuck with two useless stocks (including the factory stock) I can't sell... It's a bit of a gamble.

This would be a good option but unfortunately I am not equipped for any wood working or really DIY modifications whatsoever. I live in an apartment, no shop/tools and so on.

You guys with the XLR chassis, what are you torquing the action screws to? Am considering one of these for my 10T 308. Have the Cadex on my 10T 6.5 creedmoor, which is nice, but want something different to tell them apart.

Got an older 308 model 10 in an XLR Element.... torqued to 60 in/lbs.

I have narrowed it down to the MDT HS3 or the XLR Element. I priced them out, the MDT is a bit more expensive by around $100 if I can find a good deal on a PRS stock to run on it.
