I bought a new barrel off another site, installed it and shot it yesterday. My coal with a 140 is 2.735 which seems short. If anyone else has this barrel, what are your measurements? I'm compressed at 39.5gr of H4350.

I have loaded Berger 140 grain LRBT bullets at 2.800 with the same barrel as you without any problems but I did not use H4350. The 2.800 coal is from bergers manual. It worked well so i never tried any other seating depths before switching to lighter bullets.

How did you arrive at 2.735 OAL?

Base to ogive is the number you want.

Base to ogive is the number you want.

2.735 is the distance the bullets touch the lands. Base to ogive is 2.137 with my Hornady ogive comparator.

Just depends on the throat. I can't say about Barnes specifically, but purely by the numbers that is quite a bit shorter than my Shaw.

If it was bought from an individual they may have ordered it with a short throat for shooting 123's or 130's
