Can I take a model 12FV in 22-250 to 7.62x39?

I have a fair amount of ammo and have had good success with a Match Grade Machine barrel in that caliber and thought about having them make a barrel for the 12FV if I can use that action for that caliber and chamber or do I have to have a 308 for that?

Fairly simple conversion. The toughest part will be locating the bolt head. If ordering parts from Savage, use serial #H800634. You'll need the 7.62x39 bolt head, Savage part number 108659 - you will most likely have to source a PT&G bolt head as Savage no longer sells them.
Youll also need the 7.62x39 magazine box, part number 108664, and the 223 follower, part number 106253. That should be all you need besides a barrel, headspace gauges, and removal/installation tools.

Or you could use a .243 magazine and slightly bend the feed lips, use a .308 bolt head, Sharp Shooter Supply extractor kit(I have mine but mine extracts just fine without it) and a barrel

this is very helpful, I have never done a conversion and was not sure if these calibers would work together but i now have a 22-250 model 12FV and would love to build a 7.62x39 with it if that is a reasonable conversion I really appreciate the help
