I have a Model 99 chambered in 30/30. flat butt and the front site post is part of the barrel with the sight pinned in with straight grip stock an no checkering. serial# 295,xxx. I am trying to figure out if it is a C, D, or E possibly. the date of MGF is 1927 per serial#.
Any help figuring out what I have will be appreciated.

If the front sight is not in a dovetail, that rules out a C and D. It could be an E or an F; E is solid frame, F is takedown.

I am do not know how to tell the difference between take down or solid frame. I am completely ignorant about the Mod 99. From what I had read I thought it could be a C or D because of the front sight because part of it is the barrel itself and not a friction fit.

A takedown model has a sliding latch on the bottom of the forearm like this one

It's going to have that separate section of metal at the rear of the forend where it mates with the receiver also. The non takedown models do not have this.
