My 6x47L build

I based the build off of the A3 sporter stock. I wanted something a little lighter than the normal savage varmint builds i usually do. The Bartlein 3b contour was about right for what i was wanting.
I had Bugholes turn the barrel for me. A 6x47L with .104 freebore .272 neck, barrel finished at 25"
The whole gun still weighs 10lbs, still a bit heavy but for bench shooting and hunting its a good compromise.

I didnt want the shine of stainless, i chose to aluminum oxide blast the action and barrel.. This matched the grey in the stock pretty good.

Ive had a ptg bolt body and bolt head for sometime now. I didnt like that it wanted to lightly rust. I sent bolt body, head and baffle off to be melonited.

The black melonited bolt looks pretty good in the action. It smoothed up the action as well.

Shooting 105gr berger vld hunting bullets it had a node between 39gr-39.6gr of h4350

Tested the node again and 39.5gr and that is where it wants to be. It did a .270 center to center 5 shot group.

Wow...
That is a beautiful rifle and looks like a shooter. Cool cartridge! I think that'll be my next build!
Im not familiar with that contour, is it similar to a savage magnum?
I just ordered one of those sss bolt handles, how do you like it?

yes, its close to the magnum contour. its a little heavier around the chamber and the first 4" of barrel but yes very similar.
love the bolt handle. its my favorite handle so far.

Spectacular looking rifle with some really nice enhancements. Did Bugholes do your aluminum oxide treatment?

i aluminum oxide blasted it at my work.

sent my bolt body and bolt head to rock creek for the melonite.

39.6gr of h4350 shot in the .4s first go round
with it skim neck turned 39.5gr shot in the .2s 2nd go round
im testing that load at 500yards soon, hoping it stays in the 1/2moa range or better.
