sAVAGE PRE-FIT BARRELS AND CONTOURS.

I am having issues with my Savage model 10 FCP-? It is an older one with accustock and trigger, 24 in fluted barrel with 10 shot center feed mag. Barrel is measured at muzzle is .850. but no one offers that contour. Is this than a matter of a custom order? I ask because I don't believe a 1 in will fit in my stock and next size down would look kind of strange in my stock. I am new at this so not sure what I should be looking for. Any info would be a lot of help. thanks.

Sounds like a Savage Varmint Contour to me. If you order a Varmint Contour it should fit just fine.

Shilen offers a prefit "S7" Varmint barrel measuring .800" at the muzzle. It's a 26" barrel, so the diameter at 24" would be so close to .850 that you couldn't tell the difference by eyeball.
Order from Northland Shooters Supply, but ask if they might have one in stock which you could have in-hand in a few days.

I shoot Shilen barrels in competition and I think they offer pretty good performance at a reasonable price.
