Sighting in

Is sighting in at 100, yards, going to tell you if your gun will hold moa at 200, 300,etc that is if it holds moa st 100. The farther I shoot the worse it gets, lol

For me it's been an indicator of the rifles capability, but the longer the shot the more the shooter has to compensate for.

On the same note if you have a 1/4moa gun, but a 1moa shooter than the shooter needs to practice more!

With my old eyes I try to compensate with ever higher magnification. Aim small miss small.

I have a leupold vx-6 7-42 that helps. My next range scope will be the nightforce competition 55 power.

Nice and tight at 100 usually equates to tighter groups out to distance if shooter does there part. A lot of other factors play into this as well.

the limitation then becomes the shooter, the wind and temps and the glass.

I got a Nightforce with the 2DD dot reticle (36 x max).

My eyes have issues with thin lines (and irons other than peeps are out) the dot does well for me.

Leupold has a series of dots, 1/2, 3/8 and 1/8. You can order those with any of their glass.

some bullets supposedly settle down out past 100 yards and you can get better MOA, I don't think the way I shoot you could see that

I am not a long distance shooter by any stretch of the imagination, but I love to shoot further. I don't see much growth out to 300 yards when I am shooting, but stretch that to 500, 600, 700, and 800 (which seems to be the limit of my shooting capabilities at this point) and every shooter mistake is seriously exaggerated.
