Hey all, I'm a new poster here. I appreciate all the knowledge and advice I've been watching for a while on this forum.

I have a chance to get a .308 Savage Lady Hunter 11 NIB for $300. I've been wanting to start a savage project for a while now. Would this be worth it if I have no plans on using the stock it's in? Or should I wait for something different to pop up around the $275-300 range? Would it be easy to sell the stock? Would this be a good idea to pick up and shop it around as trade bait as it is?

My long term plan is a Savage action with new barrel preferrably in 6.5 creed and new stock. Short term I wouldn't mind shooting a .308 for a while.

At $300 dollars it is a steal. If you parted it out as new, you can probably get $400.00 for the Savage LWH SA with the fluted bolt body. You should be able to get top dollar for a 20" FW sporter barrel in 308 Win ($100.00+) since they are very hard to find. The stock may be harder to sell since they called it a "Lady Hunter". But it is great, light weight walnut stock with rollover cheek rest and 1" Pachmayr decelerator recoil pad. However, most folks don't realize the stock will also fit on a standard Savage SA with 22" sporter barrel and accept Savage OEM metal bottom parts. The "Lady Hunter" stock is currently listed for around $87 on Numrich Gun Parts web page.

I would probably relieve you of that lady hunter stock.

If Rusty doesn't take the stock, I am interested.

Is the Lady Hunter a centerfeed? From my searches on stockystock it doesn't look like there's a bell and Carlson offering for a savage 11 centerfeed. Am I going to have troubles putting an aftermarket stock on this rifle?

Yes, it is a Savage SA, CF, with bottom bolt release.

Thank you for the info. I went ahead and got it. I'll have to decide on my plans for it before I piece it out.
