I picked up a nice Savage model 900TR, which shoots well...when it fires.

I am plagued by light FP strikes and suspect that as this is an older rifle it might need a new hammer spring. I understand the model 93 hammer spring will work in this bolt, where can I find one for sale?

Tried Savage, at first they told they never made a model 900TR. Gave up trying to convince the girl on the phone, called back and spoke to a different customer service agent. This person told me the hammer spring for the 93 should fit BUT... the hammer spring is a "gunsmith restricted part" not for sale to mere mortals.

Can someone help an old retired guy out here?

The 900TR does use the same spring as the new 93 models.
The 900 was manufactured for Savage by Lakewood up north in Canada for about three years after they bought the Lakewood company, they made the same rifle before Savage bought them but I'm not sure what the model was then.
Look at Neumrich under savage and you will find a schematic for the rifle.

Thanks for confirming that the spring will work. Numrich does not have any available. Any idea where I can find one?
