For all of you measuring off the "ogive" can you please give me a p;ace for gathering info on how it is done? I have always just used COAL for my measurement, getting that by loosely setting bullet in case and then carefully chambering the round and subtracting varying amounts until I found what the rifle liked the most.
Any books or web sites?
Thanks

Here is a nice article by Larry Willis: http://www.larrywillis.com/OAL.html

And here is one from 6mmbr showing the tool I use, the Hornady LNL gauge: http://www.6mmbr.com/catalog/item/1433308/977259.htm

It is easy to use and I get great results. Measuring by the ogive is the way to go for best results and really knowing where the bullet is to the lands (where the rifling begins).

I bought 1 of those and gave it to Teele1 for his 50th birthday. It works so well I'll have to get 1. It is an A #1 product. It will replace shoulder bump gauges and oal gauges for almost every caliber. Quick, fast, and accurate, it also stores measurmemts.

The Hornady tool is great even though I'm on my third one. I keep breaking them. Here's a link to a homemade one.http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1705470#Post1705470
