Hi I'm Doug.
I have a Savage 99 (26A) .250-3000 #537XXX which I was grown up with most of my life, my dad use to take me hunting every year, killed 2 dear with the savage 99, the rifle is very fast and accurate, tell I was 18 or so, starting to do my thing, Collage in art, became an animator for Xam Productions then Disney, then I started to collect guns that I wanted when I was a Kid (I have HK MP5, PPK, FN 1910 so far) which I'm still working on other guns as well.
I got into golf, became a Pro Golfer and instructor since 2000, mostly cause my wife uncle was a Pro Golfer (Bruce Summerhays) which I still do freelance Cartooning, then when my dad got into his 70's I ask if I can have the Savage 99 rifle (That was last month) so right now I'm figuring how old the gun is (I think around 1950 by the Serial# but the 26(A) tells me its a 1949-lever boss?) I hope you guys can help me out so I can learn the history about this gun.
I've been trying to find .250 ammo for it but found a couple of sites but they go pretty fast.
I just took pictures today so I'll post them, also I hope I'll make new friends on this site :cool:
