Boyds custom stock

I ordered a boyds custom laminate stock for my wifes .308 xp trophy hunter 16/116 bottom bolt release. Checking the order it says i ordered a long action (isnt .308 short action?). The boyds long actions measure 5.06 inches center to center action screws. Her rifle measures 7 1/2 inches center to center, With no options to adjust the actions measurements in the custom ordering menu. She called boyds concerned about the order and got no answers from them about the action sizes they just said measure which we did. We were told there is nothing they can do about custom orders and cant adjust. Makes no sense they cant make the action hole larger? Also the sight says i need a bottom metal component. Which component set would work for this rifle? We cant find the correct one.

If I'm not mistaken the TH is a model 11. That would be the same as the 10, 12, 14 and 16 models with regards to the action screw lengths. Two digits denoting the short action models. If you ordered a stock for a 110, 111, 112, 114 or 116 then you ordered a long action stock. The Boyd's web sight offers a good pictorial to assist you in making the correct measurements in order to purchase the correct stock. The action screw length does not include any dimension using the rear trigger guard screw. Hope this helps.

There is a third screw under that button in front of the trigger guard. You will play hell replacing the stock if you don't know about it. The back screw only holds the trigger guard on.

The stock is being glass and pillar bedded by a local gunsmith that will be doing the work. He recommended using boyds instead of his own stocks to limit cost but now im regretting that decision due to the customer service we are experiencing. Yeah I didnt know about that screw. Ouch that sucks. Well thats 300 bucks down the drain. Well with the new info I have, the stock I need is 4-7/16th's. I just spoke with the gentleman doing the bedding and he said to bring it to him anyway, that he may be able to do something for me. Holding out hope. :(

You paid $300 for a boyds stock. What did you order? I got to know. Before you go letting him mess with it and possibly ruin it throw it on ebay for say 75% of the cost and if someone bites just cut the loss as a learning experience. MANY MANY of us here have boyds on our rigs. For what they are they are a great bargain.

116 savage trophy hunter xp Coyote prairie hunter stock with adjustable cheek riser 12 1/2 length of pull, 5.06 action lenght. 270 was the total. Hawkins custom rifle stocks is doing the work. Dont believe he would screw it up. Seems super knowledgeable.

Tufrthnails offered good advice. No one can convert what you have for a short action bottom bolt release detachable mag action. Cut your losses, sell what you have and maybe ask the gunsmith doing the work for you to place the order. If he doesn't know enough to order the correct model, at least it will be his fault next time rather than yours.

I think the 116 is what got you. If you look on your rifle it should be a Savage 16 trophy hunter xp. 10 models are short action, 100 models are long actions

I also don't think you would have a prob selling that stock here or on Ebay to recoupe some money it is not a super custom only one person in the world would like this stock kind of deal.

Either sell the stock or buy another rifle that will fit the stock.

And make sure you DON'T give it away. Knocking a "little off the top" is fine but consider how many $$ you've got invested in it and how long of a wait time would be involved to get that same replacement.

So we reordered the correct stock (short action), can someone direct me to the correct bottom metals for the 16/116 trophy hunter .308?
