Hey all,
I did the search on this, and found pet loads and other info, but not too much on speed as loaded so I'm looking for some #'s. I can estimate but prefer to see if I'm estimating closely. Lotsa other variables to speeds I know, but humor me if you can.

I ran a ladder of 53gr VMax loadings today, and the sweet spot came out to be 25gr of TAC using a low of 24gr and a high of 25.5gr. I am/was using new fully prepped Winchester brass and BR4 primers loaded to a COL of 2.298", non-crimped. (I do not recommend this loading for any other person, it is what I used in this instance while working my way up).

Has anyone chrono'd a loading of 25gr +/- .2, and if so, what were you seeing for speeds and what length barrel was being used?

I'm just trying to sharpen my estimation for use in Strelok data, any info is appreciated!

QL says: 97% Fill, 86% Burn, 43169psi.

18", 2801fps
20", 2877fps
22", 2944fps
24", 3004fps
26", 3058fps

This is software generated numbers only, to give you something to compare your estimates to.

I was estimating 3100ish+ fps, your QL data says 2944fps as I have a 22" barrel. The Western Data is tough to estimate because you have to "guess" between the two listed Hornady weights in their data (Max VMax Load is 25gr@3391fps for 50gr, and 24.7gr@3179fps for 55gr). Going over to 25.5gr produced a noticeably different sound although subtle, and yet no pressure signs at all, just stringing at the target.

I'm not familiar with QL, does it factor an estimated pressure/speed change for COL? (obviously this depends on your chamber).

The biggest thing that col affects in Quick Load apears to be fill ratio. Velocity and pressure are minimally affected. If you are jamming the bullet into the rifling, then pressure and velocity might be higher.
