Hello everyone!

I'm Active Duty Army and getting ready to leave Korea. I've been shooting my whole life and love anything that I have to work a bolt on. I've shot several Savages and loved all of them, and finally have one waiting on me when I get home (10FCP-SR 24") and plan on taking her out to about 800yd.

Welcome to the Forum, Welcome back Home, and you should really love your 10FCP.

I am hoping that I do. If it's of standard Savage quality, I'm sure I will. The only Savage I've seen not shoot great out of the box took one trip back (at their expense) and came back shooting like a champ.

Thanks for the welcome! It's my pleasure to serve our great country and quite frankly, all I've ever wanted to do for a living besides shoot (which I do get to do).

As for stopping at 800, I know I need to work on my wind-calling skill and once I get tolerable at that, I believe I might try and push her to 1k. The trick is finding ranges that go that far. Haha.

I have made a decision on optics finally, a friend can get me a solid deal on a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP and I think that'll be more than enough glass for the FCP-SR. Once I shoot the barrel out, or get tired of it, I might rebarrel in 6.5 Creedmoor or go for one of the other 6 or 6.5 rounds, as I am an avid hand loader (havent bought a box of ammo besides 300BLK to stock up on brass in about 10 years).
