This is brand new Lapua brass and it has a step on they inside of the neck .250 down, it is 243 brass that I necked down to 22, and when I seat a bullet it bulges the neck out 10 thou "like a doughnut" and will not chamber.

Do all of them do that?

You peaked my curiosity. What is your die set up like? Bushing die with no expander ball?

Maybe Lapua brass has/had thicker brass in shoulder and flowed into neck when sized down? If that's the case, would it work to size with expander ball and then neck turn?

Looks like a doughnut that got worse when you seated the bullet...Im guessing a flat base bullet?

I was recently doing some reading on some 6mm wildcats. One in particular the 6 SLR which knocks the shoulder back to a 6XC 30* Shoulder with the longer neck. THey recommended using Winchester or Hornady Brass because the thinner shoulder ran through the die better than Lapua or Nosler Brass which tended to donut on them as it's thicker and resist forming in the die.

I would guess this is the case you're see here Dean even though I don't believe you're changing the shoulder angle on this one.

Inside neck reamer should clean it up.

1: Yes all of them did that 100 pcs.

2: FL size die with expander.

3: Boat tail bullet.

4: Win & FC brass did not do that.

5: Yes I am changing the shoulder angle to 30 deg, and it has a long neck.

Inside neck reamer should clean it up.

yep

not unexpected

two ways to fix it.

Inside neck reamer or use an expander mandrel to move the donut to the outside and neck turn the brass.

I am sure it will be worth it once it is done, but was not expecting that extra work after paying $100.00 a box.

Yep European brass is known to be thicker in the neck and shoulder then American brand brass.

This is why some popular Wildcats have a version that opens the chamber .003 larger to accomdate the use of Lapua brass. I was seeing a lot of this info recently when reading up on the 6xc. A lot of people were seeing sticky heavy bolt lift when Norma starting producing brass for it because the Norma brass was thicker then the 22-250 brass that they were originally forming it from. I believe it was either on 6mmAR.com that lists a 6XC and a 6XC ii that explains the adjustment and reasoning for it.

As I recall years back they were called (cheetas).
I know a few former owners of (cheetas).
But they are well suited for Deans stable of 1/4 mile dragsters lol.

I had the same thing with Lapua 243 brass going to AI. Inside reamer cleaned them up nicely.
