I am hoping for quite a bit of help on the above. The rifle is, I suspect, somewhat old, (serial number G264711). It does not have an accutrigger. It does have a blind magazine that staggers the cartridges. The barrel has a 9" twist. Although it's well used, I've tried it with a variety of ammunition and it's been putting them all inside an inch at 110 yards, and some inside a half inch, so not too shoddy.

The questions I would like help with are as follows:-

1. Any ideas on the date of manufacture?

2. Is there a conversion available to fit a 10 round magazine? I realise that the wood will have to be cut to fit such a rig, but that can be done without too much trouble.

3. When fully loading the magazine the first round almost invariably jams, as does a single round fed loose. The rest of the rounds follow smoothly. Is this a known problem and is there a cure? Would a single shot adaptor fix this?

4. Can an Accutrigger be fitted as a 'drop in'?

5. Any other useful hints?

TIA

Entered your serial number into Savages parts search. Here's results; https://store.savagearms.com/partfinder/

Have you had it apart and cleaned it well? How does it look?

Stock for DBM; http://www.eabco.net/Savage-Laminated-Thumbhole-Stock-for-Detachable-Mag-Rifles-by-Revolution_p_13974.html

You'll need bottom metal too, obviously.

Not sure what ammo you can get delivered to the UK, but I find this particular brand shoots much better than moa in my BVSS; American Eagle p/n AE223GTV. When I put a new 20moa mount and new rings for my Vortex scope on my BVSS in 223, I bore sighted the scope at 100 yds. and the first shot landed 2 1/2" down and 2 1/4" left. I cranked in the adjustment on my scope, and the next 3 shots using this ammo made a .122 group in the 10 ring. Not bad for a barrel with >4000 rounds down the tube, and spectacular for an off the shelf and cheap ammo.

I have bought these from Ammunition Supply Co for as little as $5.89 a box. http://www.ammunitionsupplycompany.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=ae223gtv&Submit=Search

Anyone got info on the possibility of a magazine conversion?

If you want to go to 10 round magazine your best choice would be CDI. They are a sponsor of this site and you can find a link at the top of this page or put CDI in your search engine and it will come up. They will inlet your stock for free although not sure how much to mail back and forth from the UK.

That is the same set up as my Steven 200. As to the first round and loose round hang ups I found the if you chamber the rifle briskly it feeds no problems but when you are going slow it will jam every time. So if you run it like you mean it it should work.
