About 6 weeks back, I purchased a Savage Hunter 11FCNS AccuStock in .223. I finally got some time this weekend to load for the rifle. New lapua brass that is 1.750" long. Brass was run througha Lee collet die to square up necks. I can't get the bolt closed on these cases, so I tried some old Federal cases that were run through a RCBS full lgt die with the same result. Both the Lapua and Federal cases will chamber in .223 mini-Mauser. Before I get on the phone to Savage customer service, is there something I'm missing? The rifle presumably was test fired by Savage. Any and all input would be appreciated? Stoney

Have you tried factory ammo?

If not I would try that first.

If it will not chamber factory loaded ammunition then something is wrong. It would be hard to say what the problem could be because it could be a few different things.

I assume you have checked the chamber for dirt or crud?

It doesn't take much to stop a round from loading.

I'd check it with a set of headspace gauges before I did anything.

i had this trouble with my 112.i did not have the resizer die set proerly. i had it set to just kiss the top of the shell holder.i then set it by touching the shell holder and making sure all slack was out of ram then 3/4 turn in more and resized. it works fine now. i also read if u use shell holders from dif. company it will do the same.

Deadeye had it right. I ran a brass brush, moistened with Hoppe's into the chamber, and all is well now. I had cleaned everything with Wipeout and patches, but evidently the chamber needed more attention.
