I received my Savage Historian Letters in the mail today - that was fast; sent the check off the week before last! I gave him the wrong serial number for one gun - I already have that one lettered but this letter as more amplifying info. Here are excerpts from both letters.

Serial Number 120062: Accepted from the factory to the warehouse on February 25,1915 and shipped to Shapleigh Hardware Company, St. Louis, MO on 8/31/1915. On July 17, 1919 (my birthday is July 17th) for unspecified work and again on March 25, 1925 for a Mr. J. Scott. This Pistol is one of a few that were sold commercially amid a large military order for the French Government at that time...

Serial Number 85: Accepted from the factory to the warehouse on December 30, 1908 and forwarded the same day to William Read & Sons of Boston, MI. Here's what I found out about Read & Sons on another forum: "William Read and Sons were around from 1826 to 1910; from 1826 until 1883 they were located at 13 Faneuil Hall Square, after that at 107 Washington. In 1908 they became part of the Winchester store. They were called the "old gun house" and used that in their advertisements."

Always neat to see where and when your guns were when they were new huh?

Pretty interesting stuff on your letters. Your right, Mr. Callahan doesn't usually get them out that fast, he must be slow this month. Usually takes the full 6 weeks to get mine back.
