I'd stay away from any digital calipers unless they are top shelf. Cheap digital calipers have a tendency to lie and eat batteries. Get a set of dial calipers of decent quality and take good care of them.

Thanks for the advice. Didn't think of dial set. Any recommendations on a brand?

Older Brown and Sharp are not bad either. My last purchase was a Mititoyo 505-675-66 and I have been very happy with it. It has the black face w/white numbering. Very easy on the eye.

I like my digital calipers, I just verify them with a know object and they have never steered me wrong.

Ya I had bought a pair of elcheapo digital ones about 6years ago when I started to try getting into reloading and then got put on hold and now just purchased and model 12lrp in 260 and started to get back in reloading and when I measured my brass my book says trim to 2.025, and the caliper says the longest one out 10 is only 2.023. Dang piece of junk. Lesson learned!!

I can't tell if that is humor or not but if not the .002 is nothing to worry about.

Agreed but just saying I'm thinking the caliper is not very accurate. The shortest one is 2.018 so what would I do there idk

Load and fire. It would be good to compare it to something of a known dimension though. Going by the name of a standard it is something that is used to calibrate measuring equipment.

The threads on a factory barrel are usually close to 1.055. The action diameter is something like 1.349 etc. Those are just close not exact.

You could run it to zero and back out to your measurement size three or four times. If it repeats it is probably close.

The blue Frankford arsenal digitals from Midway are some of the best cheapos I have found. They are very consistent when compared to my Mitutoyos and feel decent. Most other $20 digitals are just junk. The mits are definitely worth the $100. Jump on the email list at Enco and wait till they run a 25% off and free shipping deal.
