To many favorites to list according to my Vudu account. Here's a few of my favorite actors though...

John Wayne
Clint Eastwood
James (Jimmy) Stewart
Harrison Ford
Kevin Kostner
Robert Duvall
Tommy Lee Jones
Jeff Bridges
Kurt Russell
Gary Cooper
Harry Carey Jr.
Ben Johnson
Ward Bond
Gregory Peck
Charlton Heston
Robert Mitchum
Dean Martin
James Coburn
Tom Seleck
William Holden
Ernest Borgnine
Gene Hackman
Morgan Feeman
Kirk Douglas
Sam Elliott
Victor McLaglen

I seem to favor the classics, guess that means I was brought up right. Really wish TNT and Tom Selleck would have done more movies based on Louis L`Amour's books.

The lists of movies and actors are right on. Would like to add "Enemy Mine" with Lou Gossett Jr. and Dennis Quaid to the list.

Here's a couple sleepers that are among my favorites:

Blood Simple (the Coen brothers' first movie)

True Romance (an early Tarantino film--check out the cast, lots of big names) Gotta love a movie where the main character packs a 3" SW 625.

In order:

With people in them:
Groundhog Day
It's A Wonderful Life

For fun:
The Princess Bride (really a classic, and could be on about all of these lists, except animated and historical. Action, development, ensemble, spiritual, great moments)
The Man Who Knew Too Little

War:
The Deer Hunter
Platoon
We Were Soldiers

Action:
Aliens

Animated:
Sleeping Beauty
Tangled

Beautiful moments:
Black Beauty (the scene on the island when the boy gets on the horse in the water - awesome on every level: sound track, camera work, set-up of the scene and its development)
China Syndrome (Jack Lemmon in the reactor when it's melting down - for the acting)
The Return of the King (when the king's daughter kills the wraith, after informing him "I am no man!" - for the irony/downfall of the arrogant and powerful at the hands of "weak")

Historical dramatization:
For Greater Glory

Johnny Dark (I was too young to realize how gay Tony Curtis was)
Them (I learned what Formic Acid is)
War of the Worlds (1953 version, Academy Award for Best Visual Effects)
Lonely are the Brave (Spoiler: At the end of the movie, Kirk Douglas and his horse get run over by a truck full of toilets.)
