22-250 barrel?

I have a mod 11 in 22-250 with a 24" varmint 1-14 twist that I use in 200 yard matches. It shoots 52 smk like a dream but the wind pushes them around badly. Been thinking about shooting heavier bullet like the 75gr amax in a 1-8 26" Shilen barrel. Guess my question is does anyone use this combo if so how do u like it?

I shot the 80 grain Amax out of my 8 twist Shilen. Using H4350, the best groups were near the starting load. This was only giving 223 velocities... probably around 2700 fps.

Other than load development, this load didn't get shot at paper much. But I did shoot a couple does with it. One was a 175 yard neck shot. She didn't go anywhere.

You might also look at the 69 and 77 grain SMKs.
