This is my latest, "thank god for tax returns" It's a savage in 22-243 Middlestead with a 12 twist 28" barrel, they action had a sav2 trigger on it. The stock is a Boyds and the Scope is a Swift 6-24X50, I am into it for less than a grand complete so I am very happy with it. Those 69gr and 77gr Sierra's are lasers, I am seeing over 4000 fps with the 69s, and just under with the 77gr.

Your dog is too neat, he needs to scatter and bury those bones......

I was actually doing some spring cleaning, and then UPS showed up. So it was all over after that:dog:

They action threads were striped out, so I just drilled them out and put some 5/16 X 24 threads, I find they have a lot more holding power than the original 1/4 X 28 setup.

thats it? I know you can get a little more powder in those cases if you tamp it down a little with a wooden dowel!!

It was really overcast this morning, so here I am raking up dog bones and the next thing you know the sun pokes through, screw that range time.

Here is the progression from left to right, 1st 243 case, 2nd a 243 case necked down to 22, 3rd a 22-243 Middlestead fire formed. For those not sure what this is all about and slow learners like "Frank" Look at the shoulder and the length of the neck that is where the biggest change is, I use 243 because it is the smallest step down to 22cal. But out of spite just to see if I could I made one out of a 308 case, and it came out nice I just had to do a little neck turning.

Great build!

What are your thoughts on stretching it's legs, envelope of effective range?

Not that you worry about these kind of things but estimated barrel life?

Recoil compared to a 6mmbr? Spotting your shots?

Always kind of liked the idea of this round, interested on your take.

As far as range it has got to be good for 600 yards for a kill, paper even more I never really get to stretch things out any further if it was more I would not be surprised. And as far as barrel life my 22-243MS, 220 swift AI, and 22 X 55 Swede, all hold around 50gr of powder and all seem to start opening up around 1000 rounds. The recoil with the 6BR the 105 through 108gr bullets is like a heavy push, and with the 69s and 77gr it is more of a quick snap, but you can still see what you hit. I splurged for some Lapua brass oh man what a difference, I had those 77s going faster than the 69s with the win brass. Some shooters see Lapua brass and think oh great I will be able to get 20 firings out of these, I see Lapua brass and think oh great I can get 20k more pressure out of these.LOL

If one would load them like any reasonable human would, I am sure you could get another 500 rounds out of the barrel on top of the 1000 I get. To bad I will never find out.LOL

I'm still curious about them bones.

scope eye

They are just bones that I get at the meat counter at the supermarket, I have them slice them up because, if I give her one big bone she can't bury it fast enough. And if I give her them sliced up she will gnaw on them for hours, I give her one sliced bone a day so over the winter it really adds up there were over 100 lying all over the yard. I have always given those to my dogs it does wonders to there coats, and she can stay outside in the cold no problem. that's it
