Well today I ran 80 rounds through my new 6.5 creedmoor. This is the first the first time I have shot this rifle. This was also the first time I have actually fired a bolt gun except once before I shot a .308 a few times. Just pulled the trigger and wasn't actually trying to hit anything down range really. Over all the gun shoots better then I do. My groups went from well under MOA to about MOA.
Ammo was Prime 130 grain match and Hornady ELD-M.

This was my best group.

I had a lot of groups that looked like this

Here is the vertical stringing group I had. Also the wind picked up but I didn't think it would affect my 100 yard shots but I appears that it did.

I need a lot more practice and I was having a hard time with the recoil driving me way off target. I believe I was not mounting the rifle with enough force and that was causing it to jump excessively.

Nice shooting, congratulations on the new rifle and welcome to addicting world of Savage bolt action madness. Started shooting Bolt Guns a few years ago and it has been a blast.

My first 6.5 Creedmore had a 26'' heavy varmint barrel but still had enough kick to throw off my position most of the time but it didn't have a break.

Yea that is a 26" heavy varmint as well. I'm sure that my form was the cause of my scattered groups and the recoil. I noticed when I loaded the bipod and leaned into the rifle pretty good that it didn't jump as bad.

One thing though. I leveled the scope with the wheeler kit but when I'm behind the rifle it looks like the reticle is twisted to the right. If I get directly behind the rifle it looks straight but when in shooting position it looks off. I find that I find myself constantly having to twist the rifle so that its level and the reticle is twisted a little bit. If I just get behind it naturally I make the reticle straight up and down but the rifle itself is canted in the bipod.

Is this normal for it to look off when your prone behind the rifle?

Those are some nice groups for first outing of a new barrel. Is that a Ross brake on your barrel?

Yes it's a Ross.

I quit using the wheeler level. It and my eye never agree.
