There has been a few threads on 7.62.x39 bolt builds recently.
I had one sitting in my safe.

I picked it up at a LGS, it was brand new. I was happy I found one as I had missed the CDNN sale few moons before.

I love the wood but out of the box (no box in my case) the bolt was very hard to operate.

I took it to a local smith and they fixed the issue for me for FREE, wow, they covered it under warranty. These guys used to factory warranty repair for colt cobras etc. The local LEOs use em to service their weapons.

Anyway, I picked a base and rings from the clearance table at gander and it cost me less than $20 for both and it was free with my rewards coupons.

I picked out a Nikon 2.5 x scope for it as I will shoot it out to 100 yards or less.

I plan to shoot non-corrosive surplus and Russian ammo in it.

Time for some gun porn:

I really really line those guns and actually looked for one for a while but couldn't find one near me.
That's a laminate stock isn't it? What's the plans for it

yes, laminate,

I have a stash of wolf mil classic hp, these boys are quite the hog killaz, but we don't have many spots with wild hogs in MI.

Probably will punch paper off hand for now, maybe a trip to a hog infested state soon :-)

Cool gun, cool idea would be perfect for hogs. Any idea what the drop/velocity is like out at farther distances? ill have to do some playbing around with a ballistic calc to see what the effective range is looking like.

200 - 300yds is what I've read would be effective hunting ranges with hand loads

Nice! Very nice, actually. The machining looks a little rough in the closeup of the scope, but there's just something cool about those Zastava guns. I've nursed a low level hankering for a mini Mauser for a while, but my gun funds always found their way into another project.

Update:
took in out to the range yesterday,
shot around 14 rounds,
here is a group off hand with the scope.

with wolf ammo,
I was getting flattened primer and bit hard to extract.

The cabelas scope was GONE to laaaaaalaaaa land after the 14th shot. what the fudge!
