So after I got my Savage 17hmr home and got it out of the box and looked at the crown, the rifling at the end of the barrel was was really messed up for about .1 to .2 inches so I took it to my gun dealer and he sent it back, I got it back this week and all they did is re-crown it, not taking any barrel length off still leaving the messed rifling. So I took it to the range and this is what I get.

SHOULD I SENT IT BACK AND TELL THEM TO FIX IT RIGHT.

Hindsight is normally 20-20.................. Prolably should not have shot it the way it was. However I'd call Savage and see what they can do for you. Explain the orginal issus, be curtisious and professional at all times. You be might be surprised what they'll do to solve the problem.

I called savage before I had my gun dealer send it in the first time and they asked weather I had shot
it and I said I had not and explained the issues with the rifling and they said I should go out and shot it
and see how it shot before making up my mind as to weather it had a problem, this seemed strange to me
so I sent it in the first time without shooting it. At least this time I will have some targets to send along
to help my case, they problem is what does savage consider acceptable accuracy for this rifle.
