I have a Savage 11 Trophy Hunter XP in .308 that I’d like to bed in a Boyd’s Classic Nutmeg stock. It is a bottom bolt release model. I’ve read a lot about the bottom metal needed for these rifles but have ended up just more confused, particularly with the limitations inherent in the bottom bolt release designs. Yes, I’ve read the post on the home page.

I also hate the polymer, plastic tab box magazine that it comes with. Maybe I’m just used to ARs, but it does not positively click and seems fragile. I’d like to use more of a box magazine option though a blind mag would be fine as well. Anything but the Savage mags.

My rifle is the type with no/integral plastic bottom “metal.”

So my question is this: What bottom metal should I get to enable me to bed my Model 11 (?) in a Boyd’s stock and use detachable box-style magazines?

Sorry if the answer is obvious...I'm very new to all this.

Pacific Tool and guage, Stealth Detachable bottom metal and Accuracy International magazine runs about $260.00. I'd give them a call first to make shure.
