99 date help

I will try to keep this short. Handed down my grandfathers 99 to my niece. Local gun shop had a few. One I put on lay a way is # 39673#. Any idea of the date? As a side note, myself, my 3 siblings, and 4 great grandchildren have all taken our first deer with grand dads 99. It will be interesting to see how the next generation uses it.

1940, what model is it?

Mad dog, not sure which model. Stopped at the gun shop on my way to work. They had six 99s on the rack. I picked the one closest to my grand dads. It is locked up in lay a way. I can tell you it has the schnable forearm, grip cap, and round counter. The only down side I could see was it needs a good cleaning. Almost forgot, it looks like the checkering is cut, not pressed. 300 savage cal. It has been drilled and tapped at some point but, with my vision these days that may be a plus. Bubba but, not by me.
