I currently have a 223 axis 2 hb and Axis 1 223 but seen a store has sporter 22-250 and 243. wondering if accuracy will go to crap with the sport barrels using these guns for woodchucks and occasional range time.

any difference in accuracy with the larger faster calibers in the regular barrel?

doubt you will have much trouble with the sporter unless you shoot all day with out a let up :), for varmits the 22-250 is gonna be a flatter shooting ammo. get the Winchester USA2225002 4000fps stuff.

Heavy barrels are always going to be more accurate than sporter barrels, regardless of caliber. Otherwise both would be fine for what you're looking to do.

Not sure this statement is true. Why do you think this Winnie?

Heavy barrel :
Pros: less recoil
Heats up slower
Better for longer strings of fire
May be more stable due to weight for the shooter.

Cons: it's heavy!

Sporter barrel:
Pros: it's light

Cons: it heats up faster, therefore
Restricted to shorter shot strings before you see accuracy fall off.

Both contours can be just as accurate as the other. But it depends on the type of shooting you're doing. I prefer a medium to heavy barrel set up.
