When did Savage start making the MK II. What is it's history ?

Sherman: Welcome to Savage Shooters. I am also new to the site, so unable to answer your question. There are some very knowlegable folks on this site, so I am confident some of the experts will jump in soon. I would also be interested in the history of the Mark II. Mine came with the factory optics. Changing it out to a Nikon P-22. Seems like a great little plinker.

Do some searching on Lakefield MkII. They were picked up by Savage sometime. There is probably a little more information on 'rim fire central.'
