Ive been wanting to do a build in local gun shop has a axis hb in 243. Wondering how do these bad boys shoot. Will do the upgrades stock trigger and bolt knob. So what kinda group s can I get out of these rifles.

I'm a range officer at my local range and watched an experienced shooter punch 1/2 MOA groups with his Axis. With a good trigger, heavy barrel, and JB welded & shimmed base; he built the rifle cheap and sturdy for 1k yard competition (I think just to say he could do it)... Or he did it because he had the Axis laying around but point being, they're still accurate.

I've been playing around with an Axis for a few months now. It started out as a .308, now it has .223, .243, and 7mm08 barrels. I did some no cost trigger improvements and the recommend stock stiffening and it shoots very well indeed. Use the search feature on here and see what you can find.

as already posted, with a few mods applied the consistent accuracy potential is extremely high. the mandatory mods FOR ME were to rockite the stock ($8) replace the stock trigger with a basix ($98) - add other do-dads as need be (really good glass, bipod, single feed loading ramp) or just sandbag the sucker and shoot. all bets for top accuracy are off with commercial fodder rounds - building yer own cartridges is the final, but actually the first, must-do. i haven't bought commercial centerfire ammo in over 50 years.

Hard to admit how much time and money it took to make my ( insert rifle brand here ), shoot like that. Have had some well respected guns that never shot that well.
