Just wondering how much of a difference or how much hotter the CCI 450 primers are over the 400`s? I`ve been reading of guys running 30+ grains of Varget with the 450`s (in 6BR`s) and having better luck with there velocity spreads. I`ve already run into pressure signs at 30 with the 400`s. Im really wanting to try the 450`s & would like to know how much i should realisticly expect to drop on the powder charge (of course drop lower and working back up).

The 450 magnums work good in the 6x47 lapua. The longer case requires a longer flame pattern to get good ignition from a small primer. I 've been using the CCi BR-4 for the 6 BR, using varget. I tried the 450's, but the pressures got real spikey, epecialy when the gun warmed up.

I also have went with the CCI BR 4's. But Varget did not give the speeds I thought I should be getting. A switch to RL 15 solved the velocity problem. Accuracy not a problem, mid to upper 2's to low 3's. Best group to date .110-.114.

Thanks for the responses. I may very well have to get away from the Varget. Alot of people love it, but i`ve never been able to get great groups from it in anything i`ve tried it in ... good but not the best. I have some RL-15 that i`ll try this weekend as well as the BR-4`s.
