My story is not short. But Ill make it shorter here. It all started because of the events on June 4th., 2014. I was on my bike, and somehow was separated from it. I don't remember, and there were no witnesses. As a result, I was run over by an SUV. After being in a coma for a week, and 2 additional weeks without memory, I woke up to the nightmare I was in. In addition to some brain damage, and many broken bones, I suffered a brachial plexus injury. This ultimately left me with a completely paralyzed left arm/hand. After many months of depression, it was building a 1911 that really got my mind focused. Again without going into it to much, gun smithing, and building firearms is not something new to me. I started with AK-47 builds. Then AR-15 builds, and trigger jobs on many, many firearms. And finally doing my first 1911(with BOTH hands). I have been researching & planning this build, since spring of last year. While I was still doing the 1911 in fact. It has taken so long, because I knew, from the beginning, that I would have only one chance to do this. Because of money for the most part. I did so much research. I made choices very carefully. I am very happy with everything to this point.
I fell in love with Savage rifles many years ago. I have owned 3 - a model 111 30-06 synthetic, model 10 308 walnut, and model 116 30-06 (winter worrier) stainless/laminate. And being a DIY'er, I knew a Savage action would be the action to start with. I finally won an auction on a model 10 243 synthetic for $279, which I felt was a really good deal.

Next was choosing a barrel. I spent some time on this one, but finally had Jim hook me up with a Shilen 26" varmint. Here, the difference between it, and the stock Savage barrel.

And went with the recessed crown.

Now I like Jim. He is a great guy. But he sure was pushing me to get one of their machined barrel nuts and recoil lug. I thanked him, but wasn't interested in paring a stainless barrel nut with my "blackout" themed rifle. Finally found a chromoly, machined barrel nut and .250" recoil lug from PTG.

Although I have passed on the handling them to my son, the AR15 will forever be my favorite rifle. Because of this, I decided my build was going to be in a chassis, not a stock. And the moment I came across the MDT TAC21, I knew I would have one. And I have to say, I am more impressed with it, than I imagined. It really is THAT nice!

When I first started putting this idea together, I went through a long list of stocks. At first I was enamored with an adjustable piece. The CAA sniper stock just seemed overpriced. And I didn't want to go with any carbine style stock. For a time, I was decided on one of the XLR stocks. I decided I did not need an adjustable stock. Maybe one day I’ll get or make one. But for now, just want a fixed unit, made from aluminum. After several hours searching, I found the Firebird Precision TAC-12 stock. It was EXACTLY what I wanted. Almost like it was destined to be.....as the chassis is the TAC21, and the stock is TAC-12. Just sayin'.

Of course there are some smaller notes. Had to upgrade the bolt handle. Glades Armory supplied that one. Great part at a decent price.

Also I had to fiddle with this guy a little bit. Just stoned the sear with a Shapton 6000 grit. Just removed the machining marks. Didn't change the angle. Next, I'll play with the springs a bit. Honestly, I want to keep it around 2lbs. Working on triggers is kinda my thing.

As far as optics. Until I can afford my dream scope, I picked up an SWFA SS 16x42 fixed power. I was actually really pleased with its clarity. Much better than I anticipated.

Instead of rings, I went with an American defense Recon S 30mm. This is another one of those "OOOOOO" kind of parts. Its just as good as my TPS rings that I used on my other Savages, but brings a very nice look to the package. Though I do wish it was 7075 Aluminum.

Now I just need a barrel wrench and action wrench. Unfortunately I'm out of money. LOL! Anyone have the pair, and willing to loan them to me? Oh well, hopefully be able to grab them both in a month or so. I will just use the time to practice my reloads with my Dillon. Never reloaded 260. Floor is open. Questions? Comments?(good or bad) I'm an open book guys & gals.
