How do you remove the wood forearm from the "1903" ? The slide rod is located on the end by a sphere that has a small screw in it, but not sure if that is part of the dovetail base that's inserted into the barrel groove, or if the screw is removed would the sphere come off an then allow the wood forearm to slide off over the end once the two forearm screws are removed. Or, do I have to break down the gun using that large thumbwheel screw and separate the gun into its two major assemblies....i.e. the stock/receiver and the barrel/slide?

Thx in advance for any feedback / info.

The screw is holding the guide rod onto the guide rod holder. if you take that screw out you should be able to tap the guide rod holder out of the dovetail.

Actually, I've never done it, don't want to screw your gun up, wait for Sav22 to read this, he can probably do it blindfolded.
