Have or had two. Both blued and polished. Bug hole shooters in .221 Fireball ond 6 BR.

Do they come from Shilen blued and polished, or did you do that part? I see most CM barrels advertised as "in the white" or unfinished. If they sell them nicely blued, I'd be more willing to go that route.

I have used some on a couple builds and they shoot fantastic.

Yes, the one I ordered from NSS is "in the white". I plan on bead blasting it and applying the no bake Cerrecote.

Ok, thanks Tom. Good luck with your build and keep us posted. What is your build mainly intended for?

My #4 contour in .284 Winchester is a shooter.

I have access to a friend's 1000 yard range just 2 hours from my home and want to see if I can get better long range accuracy than my Shaw barreled 308. :smile-new:

Got the tracking number from NSS, barrel is supposed to be here tomorrow along with the dies I ordered from MidSouth Shooter Supply. :peace:

I ordered that exact barrel from Jim, as well. The bluing is very nice. Not too shiny. And all Shilen barrels are now hand lapped. I cant wait to get this 260 Rem going!

Compared to the stock sporter.

And a perfect recessed crown.

Am looking to purchase the same barrel. So, NSS had the barrel in inventory and shipped in less than a week?

No, it wasn't "in stock". I ordered mine right before Xmas, and it arrived, directly from Shilen, a week ago. Still not bad, considering they quoted 12 weeks! Jim is the man! And I love how he operates the business. No email this, or machine order that. Nope! You talk directly to Jim to order a barrel. He takes all your info voice to voice. The way things USED TO BE DONE.

Thank you sir for the quick reply. "Customer Service"- sounds like a novel approach! I will call Jim tomorrow.

So Dave, yours was blued by Shilen?

Received my barrel late yesterday afternoon along with the Lee collet die set I ordered from Midsouth Shooter Supply. Had the barrel installed and head spaced on my action 15 minutes later. I was pleasantly surprised the barrel came nicely blued, not in the white. Now for load development and a range trip Sunday. :p:rockon:

Yes, all Shilen barrels now come blued and hand lapped. GaCop is ahead of me, but Im on the same path. Invested a bit in a new Dillon 550 & Redding dies, to add to my reloading equip. So I've been playing with set up, case prep., etc. I'll update in my build thread, once I get it on my 10 action, and in the chassis.

That's great! Are they much cheaper than stainless? I see a sporter 22" .308 in my future.

Haha! That's funny to me. Your welcome GaCop! Jim must have ordered several, when I made my order. Because mine was special ordered, and I just got mine a week and half ago.
