I recently purchased a new hard-sided gun case for my 22LRs.
After I test fitted my two Savage MKIIs and Ruger 10/22 in the case I noticed this small metal cylindrical piece in the foam of the case.

It's about 1/2inch long, hollow and has a slit down one side.

I've checked the case, and my firearms and can't find out where it may have come from, which really bothers me.
All firearms were fully assembled, and trigger locks in place when the test fit was done. I don't see anywhere this part could have come from.
It's very possible it was in the case when I purchased it and I didn't notice it.

I figured I'd post here to see if anyone can confirm (or not) if this is part could be from one of my Savage MKIIs (I have an FXP and TR).
I've compared both firearms to each other and I don't see any missing parts or differences (other than the model differences).

If anyone has any questions please let me know.

It looks like a roll pin to me, what it's out of I haven't a clue.

If you have some Snap caps, you may want to do a complete function check on each of the rifles. Load up a magazine with 2-3 snap caps and go through the entire firing procedure. Safety on/off, etc. If everything performs as it should, as you said, perhaps it was in the case when you purchased. No reason to start taking the gun apart if they function perfectly. Now if they don't, then the investigation begins. Good luck on your project. I know it would bother me too.
