I have a model 111 in 300 win mag with a factory stock and factory DBM. Im wanting to upgrade to a tactical style stock. Is my factory magazine considered a "centerfeed" or a "staggered feed". I am confused because the shells are staggered when loaded into magazine, but from what i have researched, the stagger feed was on older rifles. The letter on my serial # is a "G" so if i am correct the rifle was made after 2002. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

If the magazine stays on the action when removed from the stock, its a stagger feed. If it is attached to the stock, its a centerfeed.

H-O, it's a DBM, so it shouldn't be attached?
My guess is it is a centerfeed. Are there staggered feed DBM?

Lol I looked right past that....

Stagger feed

Notice the difference in magazine construction.
Yes, there are stagger feed dbm's. They have a round hole in the stock (on the right side) with a push button for releasing the magazine. See FAQ: http://www.savageshooters.com/content.php?260-Savage-110-Detachable-Box-Magazine-Systems Stagger feed DBM's still have a frame/box attached to the underside of the action that the DBM attaches to/ releases from.
In all likelihood yours is a centerfeed. To confirm, you can also measure the distance between the center of the two action screws. If it is 4.4 inches, it's a CF. If slightly less, its a SF. See FAQ: http://www.savageshooters.com/content.php?128-Savage-Action-Lengths

Norm, it's a WinMag, therefore a long action. Those are short action measurements.
It must be reading comprehension night. We both flunked. Now where'd I put my Pendelton?
Details, details! :)
So forget what I said about 4.4 inches, etc. Everything else I said is relevant and the FAQ links are still valid, and informative. :)

foxx, I forgot about those pushbutton mag models. I've seen a lot of them turn up recently locally...
