Hello all! Recently picked up this Savage pistol that is kinda stumping me. Clearly not factory, has white savage grips and a 1917 style lower frame, but the upper slide is a pre-1917 M1907 style. Pistol has a high mirror finish which is also interesting to me. The serial number is in the low 241,000 (ca 1920?) range. Not sure if this is a completely custom factory job, or a transitional model of some kind. It certainly doesn't look like a later marriage to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Nick

Looks to me like someone used a model 1917 frame and fitted a model 1907 slide and breech block to it, might just be the hammer though that they changed on the breech block, I'd have to see pics of the breech to know for sure. The grips are called Franzite, they're made by an outfit that makes repro grips and you can get them in that color.

That is definitely an early slide, even 'early ish' for an 1907 as such.

Looks to me like someone put the early Slide assembly on to an m1917 Frame.

The Pistol has been heavily refinished also.
