Hello,
So I was wiping down my bolt, and as I normally do, I cleaned inside the front bolt head, and when doing so, the extractor came out,I caught/felt it, so I did not loose the ball , extractor or spring.
So I put it back together, and noticed it seemed way to easy to slide it out.
I did this several times all with minimal effort.
This is a hunting rifle, and I diffently do not want to loose the extractor 1000 miles from home on a hunting trip.
The back of the extractor where the ball pushes against has the relief cut,but it is not very deep, or lets say defined.
So, do I have a week spring ?
A bad extractor/ relief cut ?
Or even an undersized ball ?
Thoughts ?
Thanks

Remove the extractor and see how much force the spring is applying to the detent ball. If not enough lengthen the spring very slightly.

Replace the spring & install a .140 detent ball

Amazon. 9/64" steel or chrome balls. I replaced the balls under my extractors with these. Did not change the spring. Now extracting perfectly. I now realize that my rifles didn't extract well from day one. I'm a happy man.
