I just picked up a Savage SA in 243 to start a 22-250 or 6mmBR project. I’m leaning towards the 6BR but I understand it’s tricky to get the round to feed from anything. Anybody have any experience with this, especially from a Savage centerfeed? I know a fella designed a way to block R700 magazines but can’t find anything on Savages.

Also, anybody have two or three worn out 6BR brass and bullets to do some home feeding tests? I’d be happy to send a few bucks for anyone willing to send me a few dummy rounds!

Thanks in advance!

Just use a 6 BR magazine.

I have a 6BR varmint rifle built on a blind centerfeed action. Unmodified blind mag from a 308 rifle. I can load 1 or 2 rounds in the mag and it feeds fine. Load 3 rounds in the mag and not so much. Can't guarantee you'll have the same luck but I am happy with mine.

I don't know if it will help with the shorter BR but when I put my 250Imp together(22-250 blind staggered feed mag) I found reducing the spring tension on the follower was the ticket, why I conjured up hi-tech gadget to adjust/bench test it.

You only need enough tension to move a or the next cartridge up in to position so the bolt can push out of the mag. The critter in action....
