I've got a standard SF 110 in .270 that I wanted to convert to .300 win mag.

I know that I am going to be changing the bolt head, but was wondering if there were any other considierations... i.e. new mag box, etc.

My next question, as I am a left handed shooter, do I need a left handed bolt head, or do I "flip" it when I install it? I read the tech articles and I was not sure what the differences would be between boltheads in the right and left handed rifles.

Thanks for all of your help.

Scott,

You may or may not need a magazine box and follower but I would plan on getting one just in case. That and a barrel and you should be all set. As far as I know the bolt heads are not interchangeable between left and right hand actions, Midway lists separate L and R bolt heads.

You will need a left hand bolt head. If you just flip a right hand bolt head, it will try and eject the brass down and into the stock instead of up and out of the action.
