Have a 200 short action staggerfeed mag.

Have been kicking around the idea of a 260AI build, will the longer 140s encroach too much into case if loaded to fit in the mag?

VLD's and ABLR's will use up some of the available powder space. Going to the AI will allow you to attain standard 260 velocities with the longer bullets seated below the neck/shoulder juncture.

I've never had a problem running the 140's in a short action mag and still getting 2950 plus.

Good to know thanks. May I ask what COL you're running?

Using SA/CF, anything less than 3" COAL works in my rigs. I shoot the 140grn Rem PSP, I still have some, loaded to about 2.954", and they feed just fine.

I look for flat base pills where ever I can find them. And Nosler BT's and standard AB's, which have short boat tails. All a long boat tail does for me is take up powder space in the case, and does nothing for external ballistics until after 300yds( JMHO :-).

But I shoot single load anyway. Those who insist on stuff like DBM's, usually have to give up some magazine length. The reason some go to long actions for short action chamberings.

I am running a C.O.A.L. of 2.841" in my rig. This is .025" from the lands in a Mcgowen Prefit.

Look up Terry Cross 260ai. He was doing it before all the fancy 6.5 Creedmoor/6.5x47L and all that came about.
