I have a centerfeed Stevens 200 short action with a blind magazine. To change over to a detachable magazine do I just need to get a stock and bottom metal for a gun with detachable mags? Or is there some other difference?

You will need a trigger guard, SA DBM frame assembly and mag bottom cap. Your current blind magazine box and follower attach to the DBM bottom cap. Of course you will need a SA, Center Feed DBM stock with top/side bolt release. You will also need a shorter front action screw. Check out the "Choosing The Correct Bottom Parts Tutorial" in the article section on the Home page for more information. Order online directly from Savage Arms.

Do the Boyd's stocks for detachable magazines work on center feed stocks? Their blind magazine stocks specify staggered or center feed but the detachable ones don't.

Boyd's specifically states "single feed" or "stagger feed". They'll have something for the short action DBM but it gets difficult for long actions. Best thing to do is call them before ordering.

I believe the Savage Stevens 200 SA models were all center feed (4.40"). The blind magazine box and follower stay with the stock and are held in place by an L-clip when the stock is removed. The Stevens 200 actions were all top bolt release. If you want to go with the Savage OEM bottom metal parts in a Boyd's Savage SA (10, 11, 12, 14, 16), top/side bolt release and DBM inlet, then you will need an old style trigger guard with the thin front lip, the frame assembly (surround) with the thicker rear lip and a metal bottom magazine cap. Go to www.SavageArms.com, Store tab, Partfinder tab and put in the following rifle SN G800911. That will pull up the schematics for a rifle with the Savage OEM bottom metal parts (black matte) needed to convert a Savage (10, 11, 12, 14) or Stevens 200 SA, TBR, CF with blind magazine stock to a CF, TBR, DBM stock.

Thank you that's exactly what I needed. Here is my project rifle .450 bushmaster with a McGowen barrel.http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a261/jerkface11/791E6228-687A-485D-BA52-F6017DE301ED_zpsvpbiwosg.jpg
