Results with Bart's 105's in the 6br

I loaded up some of the custom bullet's for the EABCO accuracy barrel and it shoot's them into one hole. I had my friend who is an expert shooter shot this group at his 200 yard range, the first time he ever fired my rifle. I am very impressed with the results.

Not a whole lot yobuck, they are quite a bit out of my price range to be able to shoot them in all the match's I go to. I bought 100 of them just to see if custom bullets really shoot better.

I also have never tried Berger bullets yet either, I think I may be able to swing the Berger bullets in my .223 this year. My .223 barrel is a McGowen 7 twist bull contour so I'm going to try either the 80's or 80.5 full bore's for the 3-500 yard F-TR match's.

The guy I bought the Bart's bullet's from said he was getting 1.5 " groups at 600 yards but if any wind came in they were all over the place.

For the record Bart's bullet's were .006 off the rifling in my barrel for the one hole groups,, jammed and .020" off were more like 1/2 MOA

The testing we did was in very little wind at all, so I'm not even sure how they will hold a group under real match conditions.

Well as you know im not a serious shooter per se. Simply a hunter and an agitator lol.
But i have shot at least some, and i also know enough good shooters who are active 1000 yd competetors to keep in touch with whats happening.
When the 6mm Dasher was not as well known as it is now, some shooters used 30 calibers on windy days rather than their Dashers.
Today they are apt to use the Dasher regardless of conditions and shoot faster.

Thanks, Slow,, I can't believe I left that part out as there is 7 in that group! I wish I could take the credit for shooting it, but I didn't. My friend is an expert shooter and his range has at least 10 flags and ribbons to detect any wind that there might be. I had 10 loaded up with that recipe that is insane, and he shot 7 and told me he wasn't going to waste any more in that group. I thought they were shooting bad or something until he held up and ear plug and pointed at it indicating a small group.

I highly recommend a 6BR to all the Savage Shooter community, I have seen many 6BR's mainly Savage builds shoot tiny groups with this easy tuning accurate cartridge.

6BR Norma 1:8 twist shooting 90-107 gr. bullets. When I took it out to 1000 yards last year I had a 3 shot group that was about 7/8". They are sick accurate.

7 shots??!! That's freaking amazing. What are the rifle specs? Optics? Mechanical front rest or bipod? Prone/from bench? What were you guys using for rear support? Conventional bag/monopod?

The rifle was originally a model 110 in .243 I bought in the mid to late 90's. I bought a used BVSS stock for it, a rifle Basic's competition trigger and a Dark Eagle precision ground HD recoil lug. I bedded the stock with JB weld as well as the 1 piece egw 0 moa base. I did the bolt handle myself but the knob was provided by Gary that used to be on this sight, but I think he is suspended for a while. The barrel is an EABCO accuracy barrel throated for heavy 6mm bullets. The barrel came as a kit and was only $258 I think. The barrel is a smidge bit smaller than a Savage Varmint contour and it does not walk or string when it is HOT.

He used a Sinclair front rest and a leather Protector bunny bag in the rear, using a sturdy homemade wooden bench.

The scope is a NF 8-32 NXS with NP-R1

This is the set up I use with a redneck block on the fore end of the stock to track straight back.

And I noticed the wooden pieces on each side of the rear bag (and bottom?). I have not seen that before but looks like a great idea.

That's the part that I'm missing... I feel like I'm being "robbed" of accuracy and money by being at the mercy of factory loads. But that's my choice I guess. I'm lazy.

Don't forget that even though your shooting factory rounds like I started out you can do a little bit to further your accuracy.

Get an electronic scale and weigh the ammo and sort.
Get a set of caliper's and orgive tool and sort the ammo by it's length.

My scale is a cheap 35$ frankford that I take very meticulus care of.
A cheap $ 20 digital calipers.

Thanks Dan. Those are good tips. I hadn't thought of doing that. That could be the start of my slow process into handloading. Forces me to buy a couple of tools that I would use in reloading anyway.

That's one fine group! My E.A. Brown barrel in 260 Remington never shot any where near that good and I ended up selling it.

I made it to the range today and didn't put up flags or anything, the wind was moderate. I was able to shoot the rifle free recoil with the good load that I have found. There is a 3rd target that I shot a 5 round group last but it was a shoot and see target that someone had left up at the rang and it's almost impossible to measure group size on those but it is close to 1/4'.

I JUST HAVE TOO! How can I go into any kind of a match now knowing that I could have done better with the Bart bullets. At one of our local match's they have a traveling trophy and I want it to come home with me at the end of the year. I will have to be on my game all year and shoot many X's to earn it.

our season starts next month and I finally made master class the last match of last year. I bought 100 Alco bullets last year and shot 18 of them and they are very impressive so I need to play with them a little more but at 85 cents apiece I'm not sure I'm going to shoot them or not...when I get my other barrel re-chambered for the 260 AI I'm going to shoot the other 82 and see what I can get them to do...I know the faster I shot them the better they grouped and the maker claims a 715 BC from a 140g bullet.
