I was informed recently that the 10fp McMillan series rifle is a law enforcement rifle. It was suggested that I cannot purchase one because Im not law enforcement... Any truth to that?

never heard that before... not unless they were talking bout the new model(HS Prec stock though) that is being used by the Phillipine police. That model isnt listed on Savages site as being available to the public, but they do have the story and pics of the rifle.

According to Brian Herrick, less than 3% of the law enforcement guns are sold to law enforcement. I guess everyone that has one thinks they're special... ;)

Got one in .308 with McMillian stock last year and I live in California, where they like to restrict everything. Who is telling you that they are only available for law enforcement. ?

i bought one at a gun show a few years back. there's no special requirement to purchase it. there's really not that much that sets it apart from the rest of the savage line. it has a special "law enforcement accu-trigger" which is adjustable down to 1.5 pounds, and it's black, but that's about it. ridiculously accurate, though. i would highly recommend spending the extra $$$'s to get the HS or McMillan stock, though, because the standard tupperware is terrible and in the long run you'll be glad you got the good one.
