does this seem like a decent deal?

308
specs:
Savage action
shilen match heavy barrel 1:9
Bell & Carlson medalist A2 custom inleted with bottom metal to accecpt AICS mags
adjustable trigger (2 1/2 lbs)
heavy recoil lug
one 5 round AICS mag

$1,450????

My cousin called me today and a guy he works with is trying to sell it i guess. Sounds like a nice rig. I think he is hard up for money or something. Sound like a decent deal?

With top-notch parts and gunsmithing he has close to that in parts alone. You might get it for less money, make an offer.

I think it sounds a little high. Here's what you can get for new:

Action from (NSS):$325
Shilen select match barrel (NSS): $279
B&C Medalist A2 (Stocky's): $210-230 depending on color
SSS recoil lug: $30
--------------------------
Total = $864, I can't image the AICS conversion costing +$200. It all depends on what has been done to the gun. True and time by SSS is $105. Skim bedding the action is $60-100. Even if you drop a SSS trigger in it you are well under $1400.

Just my 2 cents. Tim

Brett,
What sticks out in my reading your post is the 9 twist 308. Just how heavy of a bullet are they planning on using? A 10 twist will get you up over 200 gr. You may not want that barrel either.
