Merry Christmas every body. I just bought the 16 LWH .308 and need help finding mounts, my local gun stores don't have any mounts for model 16 and they can order the right ones for me and they will mount which is cool but I'd rather do it my self now because I went in with my friend to buy rings for his rifle and the dude working at the store said do you want the scope mounted. So we said sure and the dude was handling the scope very roughly, he puts the scope on and scratches the scope after he nearly strips the screws head. Then he bore sights the gun and pulls the bore sight out very roughly and fast with a lot of side pressure and scratches the flippin barrel. All we did was stare at each other and with our eye contact agreed never to return to this store again.

Anyways there's a lot of options on egw that I am interested in but which one did you guys have most success with. I'm not having much trouble finding rings but if you guys have good combos with a buckmasters 4-12x40 let me know which ones you guys had good success with.

EGW makes a good rail. Got a few of them. The best feature of a picatiny rail is that you can mount the rings anywhere on it. You can mount a scope with a short tube and get the correct eye relief.

Have also used the two piece Warne and Weaver that come on package rifles. These sit just a little bit lower than the EGW rail. The Warne are steel and the Weavers are aluminum. Use Burris Signature Zee rings with all of those.

My thumbhole 243 sporter wears a Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 in Burris Signature double dovetail rings in a two piece base. Very solid, but this scope has a long tube that facilitates mounting in the correct position. A shorter scope probably wouldn't work well with this set up. Check the mounting length of your scope before going with any two piece base.

Several good one piece options without breaking the bank. Weaver and EGW are two of them. Remember the front screw is the shortest. Put it in first. when you have it tight try to move the base. If it moves the screw is too long and will need to be shortened.

Talley....especially on the LWH because of the weight savings. They are light, strong and simple. They look good too.

Jeez.... I wish I saw this before I ordered these two mounts and rings
Oh well if I don't like them I'll return them and try the Talley out, I'll keep the mounts if anything

Just realized I ordered the wrong rings, it's a blessing in disguise though because I also did not notice the weight of them and they are HEAVY. I'm gonna order the talleys now.

Both the GameReaper and HuntMaster mounts from DNZ Products are top quality and very light as well. One benefit of both is that since they're a one piece mount/ring it's one less thing you have to worry about loosening up on you.

I ordered medium mounts from talley w/accutrigger short action, I sure hope it fits my buckmaster 4-12x40 well
