Premium stocked 110

Anyone have a 110P that they can give me some forend measurements for? Or someone that has heavy barreled one? I know that it may be taboo, but I think it would pretty sharp myself.

Do you know the premium or premiere grade stocks? French walnut with Rosewood forend and grip caps. I have an opportunity to get one and would like to rebarrel it to a fast twist 243, I just don't know if they left enough meat on that forend to accommodate the heavier barrel.

I don't have any experience with the particular stock that you're inquiring about, but fwiw, I've seen more than a few sporter stock barrel channels sanded out to accommodate the heavier contours. It will primarily be dependent on how heavy you want to go, but it can absolutely be done.

It may not be exactly the same, but I'd be willing to bet that it's do-able. For reference, this is a medium palma contour in a Boyd's sporter stock before it was free floated:

Going to be real iffy as the "P" stocks already have very slim flat sided forends on them. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of my old 110PEL looking down from the top over the barrel/forearm to verify, but I don't recall their being much extra material there to work with. A quick Google image search seems to confirm my memory as it doesn't look like there's much thickness at the tip of the barrel channel.

This particular stock pattern (Weatherby or also called a California Sporter) was very popular in the 50's and 60's and is specifically designed for shooting off-hand which isn't really ideal with a heavy barrel due to the added weight out in front. Like most sporter style hunting stocks it has too much drop at the toe for shooting off bags and/or a rest.

That, Mr. Furious, is exactly what I was talking about, great information. I left material on the forend of my current rifle when I was shaping it to accomidate a heavier barrel. So I may stick to that idea. Spend the money instead on a higher power scope maybe...
